The Latest News from the UK Home Office

THE LATEST NEWS FROM THE UK HOME OFFICE  For people to stay updated on the latest news from the UK home office, they are being advised to follow up on the UK home office website Do you wonder what a UK home office is and what its responsibilities are? Then you should know that the UK Home Office is the lead government department for immigration and passports, counter-terrorism, drugs policy, crime etc. They are in charge of keeping the first duty of the government, which is maintaining a high level of security. They do this by keeping citizens and the country safe and secure, they are responsible for ensuring economic prosperity in the UK.    COVID 19 UPDATES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS The outbreak of the Covid 19 virus, in December 2019, caused the UK to put up strict travel rules to curb the spread of the deadly disease. Travel rules such as  Passengers Locator form  The pre-departure covid test,  Day 2 Covid test Day 8 Covid test,  10 days quarantine  Fortunately, Covid 19 vaccination was established and has been distributed and administered to citizens in their different counties. Following the release of the Covid 19 vaccination, the UK gradually eased the travel rules, whereby, vaccinated individuals were requested to only provide just the day 2 covid test.  However, the UK home office just released the latest news on a new covid rule, which is to take effect from the 11th of February, 2022.  This new rule states that fully vaccinated passengers arriving in England will no longer need to take any mandatory Covid – 19 tests. The current requirement for the day – 2 arrival test will be removed but the passenger locators form will still be provided.  Those who are not fully vaccinated will still be required to provide a pre-departure covid test and a day 2 covid test upon arrival. Therefore, students with the intention to study for a program in the UK are advised to get vaccinated before beginning their admission or visa processing to the UK.    LATEST NEWS ON THE UK STUDENT VISA  In the first week of December 2021, there was an outbreak of a new Covid 19 variant, known as the Omicron covid variant. This virus was spreading rapidly and was known to be highly contagious. For the UK to be able to curb this covid variant and protect its citizens, they put up strict rules like Pre-departure covid test for both vaccinated and unvaccinated students, they banned visitor visa applicants and most importantly, they stopped the priority and super-priority visa.   What are priority and super-priority visas? Priority and Super Priority visas are fast-tracking visas, that ensures an applicant’s visa is issued within one week after applying, as against the standard 3 weeks. While priority visas are issued in one week, super-priority visas are issued in just 3 days after application.  The latest news from the UK home office on the UK student visa is that the priority visa has been opened again to students since the 24th of January, 2022. The priority services are only available to individuals applying for a UK student visa and Work visa. However, the super-priority visa is still on hold for the time being.  Therefore, if you have an admission offer to study in the UK for either the March, April or May intakes, you can consider applying for a priority visa, and get a visa response in just one week.    To do that, reach out to us for more details on the requirements and cost of applying for a priority visa.    Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt. The UK No Longer Trust Nigerian Proof of Funds

THE UK NO LONGER TRUST NIGERIAN PROOF OF FUNDS      It is shocking for Nigerians that the UK no longer trust their proof of funds, this troubling news broke out on Friday, January 14th,2022, when the UK started questioning the validity of Nigerian proof of funds (bank statement).  These past days and even weeks truly have been a roller coaster for Nigeria.  The ending of the year, December 2021, had its own drama, this drama being the Omicron Virus (Coronavirus Variant) which led the UK to put up strict rules for Nigerian students and even ban Nigerians planning to travel to the UK with a visiting visa. This year, not up to a month ago, another commotion between Nigeria and the UK has arisen, this commotion affects strictly Nigerian students who have intentions to study in the UK.  As we all know, students are expected to show a bank statement (proof of funds) containing their tuition fees, alongside their cost of living before they are being granted CAS or a visa to successfully study in the UK.  The total balance in their bank account at the time this is being presented, convinces the university admission team and the immigration authorities that the student will be able to complete the tuition fee payment and also, can afford to comfortably live during their studies in the UK.  However, all of their efforts have proven fruitless as a lot of students find it difficult to pay up their tuition fees after enrolment into a UK university.  Succeeding this issue, on the 14th of January 2022, there was a new headline, stating that Nigerians may be obtaining loans so they can show UK immigration authorities that they have accurate funds in their account during their stay in the UK, loans which they later return after acquiring their student visa. This not only made headlines here in Nigeria, but it has also gotten to so many Universities in the UK and proves why most Nigerians are unable to make their tuition payments after getting to the UK, therefore, this has led to a lack of trust towards proof of funds provided by Nigerian students. To contain the issue, some UK universities have put up measures and conditions to guarantee the ownership of the funds presented by the students, measures such as additional documents.   WHAT ARE THESE ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS THAT MUST BE PROVIDED TO BACK UP A NIGERIAN PROOF OF FUNDS? A few weeks ago, the issue of lack of trust by the UK towards Nigerians proof of funds escalated. Some students who got admitted to study during January intake in the UK were made to provide new requirements by the university admission team and the immigration authorities to back up the proof of funds that was presented.  Some of these new requirements are: A statement showing transitions from a previous period (different to the financial evidence provided and within the last six months)  The front only of a bank card or Cheque book showing the account holder’s name Signed and stamped letter from the bank (produced on a different date to the statement) outlining the duration for which the account has been held   DOES NEGXY CONCEPT LIMITED OFFER PROOF OF FUNDS SERVICES? No, Negxy Concept Limited does not offer proof of funds services for prospective UK students.  It is important for you to know that Nigerian Students are not the only ones being affected by this issue, study abroad agents are also affected.  There is certain news flying around stating that study abroad agents may be lending money to students for the sole purpose of deceiving the UK immigration authorities. This news has put Nigerian UK agents in a tight spot, as they are being scrutinized and monitored by the UK immigration authorities to prove the validity of the news.   WHAT TO DO IF YOU CAN NOT AFFORD TO STUDY IN THE UK Get a job and begin saving up until you can afford to pay for the tuition fees and cost of living while studying in the UK.  Seek assistance from your parents or spouse to sponsor your education in the UK. However, they must place the funds in your bank account.  Speak with our counsellors for more advice and information concerning how to successfully study in the UK.      Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt. The trends for study abroad matters in the year 2022 are    Covid Travel Restriction Technological Advancements  Interest in Health-Related Courses Nigerians Emigrating to Study Abroad  Nigerians relocating to Canada   Covid Travel Restrictions   The ending of the year 2021 came with an unexpected challenge, this unexpected occurrence was the Omicron variant of the Corona Virus, which made countries like the UK and Canada ban and put up strict travel rules for Nigerians. This change affected a good number of Nigerian students who had plans to study for the January 2022 intake. It also affected universities, as they had to make adjustments to suit the changes that were made by the government, like virtual classes for students who were yet to get their visas or begin their visa process, and also, deferring student’s offers until the next intake  etc Students who did their admission and visa process for January 2022 intake early, did not have to bother about this. Therefore, putting in admission and visa applications late in the year 2022 should be avoided so as not to end up in a situation whereby your offer is withdrawn or deferred due to unforeseen circumstances like Covid 19. Early admission and visa application should be done to ensure success in your travelling process and studies abroad this year 2022.    Technological Advancements One of the trends for study abroad matters is Technological Advancements. Yes, studying and living in these countries especially as an International student will be a great experience but most Nigerians relocate seeking better opportunities due to the poor state of the country.  Every year, thousands of Nigerians travel to study abroad as they experience numerous problems that are occurring in the country, problems like Insecurity, poor economy, corruption, low exchange rate, low standard of living, and the upcoming issue which is a phobia for elections, as major elections are on the way,  etc    Due to these problems, Nigerians have taken to studying abroad most especially in the year 2022, as a means to avoid election phobias, to have a better and safer standard of living, for greater opportunities and all the benefits that come with studying abroad in these countries.    Nigerians relocating to Canada  Since the year 2017, Nigerians have massively relocated to Canada, the reasons for this relocation is not far fetched. Let us take a look at the push and pull factors of migration, these are factors that push one out of his home country and pull him into a foreign land. The push factors for Nigerians in this year 2022 are Bad Governance  Insecurity Upcoming Elections etc  The Canadian government created attractive policies that pull foreigners into the country. These policies can be known as migration schemes, they are point-based programs that attract citizens into Canada, (Nigerian citizens that fall under any of the categories)   Some of the pull factors that attract Nigerians into Canada are Education Program  Canadian experience class program Federal skilled workers program Federal skilled trades program The education program is one of the major pull factors in Canada because of their scholarships. UK’s Omicron Coronavirus Update for Nigerians: Suspension of Visa Application

UK’S OMICRON CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FOR NIGERIANS; SUSPENSION OF VISA APPLICATION The UK and Canada have put up strict travel rules due to the Omicron Coronavirus variant, for some African countries like South Africa and Nigeria, to help protect their citizens against the deadly virus. CORONAVIRUS (COVID 19) Coronavirus disease is an infectious disease that causes respiratory illness and can eventually lead to death without proper treatment. Ever since the emergence of this deadly virus in December 2019, which led to a general lockdown for up to 4months, the virus has continued to spread and have produced new variants.  Several preventive measures have been put in place to curb the spread of this deadly virus, measures like Wearing face masks, Using alcohol-based hand sanitisers, Washing of hands frequently and properly, giving a distance of 2 meters between others etc. Not only were these preventive measures put in place to curb the virus, but vaccines were also produced to prevent the spread of this deadly virus. The different types of covid19 vaccines are Oxford/ AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen.  Aside from the vaccines and preventive measures that were adopted, countries also put up rules and regulations to protect their citizens from contracting the deadly virus, like the traffic light system rules.     OMICRON VIRUS (COVID 19 VARIANT )  Viruses repeatedly change through mutation and sometimes these mutations produce new variants of the virus. Some variants emerge and disappear while others persist.  Coronavirus 2019 (Covid 19) emerged in 2019 with the Alpha Variant and over time other variants have emerged. Variants like the Beta variant which was discovered on the 18th of December, 2020, the Gamma variant which was discovered on the 11th of January 2021, the Delta variant which was discovered within April and May, 2021. Now, a new variant has just been discovered and is known it be more deadly, as it can easily spread compared to other variants,  this variant is the Omicron variant which was discovered between the 24th – 26th of November, 2021.  Covid Vaccines have been known to protect against severe hospitalization and deaths of those that are infected with the coronavirus, therefore people are being advised to get vaccinated. Cases of the Omicron virus have been found in African countries like Nigeria, South African etc and not up to one-third of the Nigerian population have been vaccinated, this led to countries like the UK and Canada putting up strict rules that affect Nigeria as a whole.  Following the discovery of the Delta and Omicron virus, the world health organization (who) has concluded that individuals get administered a booster shot ( this is a third dose of the covid vaccine) this dose helps to improve the protection from the first 2 doses of the covid vaccine.   SUSPENSION OF UK VISITING VISA APPLICATION. The UK invented the travel light system rules to protect their citizens from this deadly virus by laying travel restrictions and rules. The travel light system rules consist of the green light list, the amber light list and the red light list.  Countries that are currently under the UK green and amber light list are allowed to travel to the UK under strict conditions. However, countries under the UK red light list, who are not citizens or residents of the UK are prohibited from entering the UK.  On Monday, the 6th of December, 2021, succeeding the discovery of the Omicron virus, Nigeria was moved from the UK green light list to the red light list. However, the red light list travel ban affects only individuals with the intent to travel to the UK on a visiting visa, as there has been a suspension of the UK visiting visa application in Nigeria. This means that all tourists and businessmen from Nigeria have been banned from entering the UK and UK visiting visa applications in Nigeria have been suspended. This new rule has left a lot of Nigerians panicking, especially those with the intention to travel to the UK for the holidays, however, the UK government will review the new rule by the 20th of December, 2021. This date has been put in place to monitor and observe the spread of the Omicron Virus, as the 20th of December will make it  3 weeks since the virus is discovered.  As some Nigerians are greatly affected by this sudden news, other Nigerians are lucky to escape the travel ban that has been placed on Nigeria even after being moved to the red list. These are individuals applying for a UK student visa and a work visa.  Nigerians with the intentions to travel to the UK to study or work will be allowed entry into the UK regardless of the UK red light rules, however, strict rules have been put in place for both vaccinated and unvaccinated Nigerians. These are rules:  Passenger Locator Form must be filled 48 hours before entry into the UK  A Covid Predeparture test must be done 72 hours before entry into the UK Individuals must do 10 days quarantine after entry into the UK  Covid test should be taken on the 2nd day after the entry into the UK Further covid testing will be taken on the 8th day after the entry into the UK   Due to the recent Covid 19 update and sudden change in rules by the UK government, we advise that all applicants for the UK student and work visa application, apply for their visas on time as there are uncertainties as to how long it will take for the student and work visas to be issued.    Speak with our counsellors today for detailed information on the UK Omicron Coronavirus update for Nigerians   Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt. Types of UK Student Admission Offer

TYPES OF UK STUDENT ADMISSION OFFER  Ever wondered about the types of UK admission offer given to prospective International students? Or, you recently put in an application for a university and you are awaiting an admission offer. Then it is important to know the types of admission offers that Universities in the UK and even in other countries, grant students.  The types of UK admission offer given to prospective international students is based on the documents presented and their qualifications. These admission offers are  Conditional Offer Unconditional Offer    CONDITIONAL OFFER  Conditional offers are admission offers granted to prospective International students who did not meet up the general or academic requirements.  When a client comes to our agency with the intention to put in an application to study in the UK, our counsellors always ensure to provide them with the necessary information and all the requirements needed for their university choice. However, students who do not meet up the requirements or intend to provide incomplete documents will be granted a conditional offer.    The documents and requirements to be provided for studies to the UK are:  International Passport: Must be valid at least 6 months after the course intake, anything less will be considered invalid and this will lead to getting a conditional offer. Degree Certificate: The degree certificate must be presented and not the statement of result. Students who present a statement of result will be granted a conditional offer.  Official transcripts: Some universities in the UK do not accept transcripts that have ‘students copy’ written on them. Such transcript is considered invalid, if such transcript is submitted, the student will be granted a conditional offer.  English level test proficiency (Senior School Certificate): UK Universities have different English language requirements. For the senior school certificate, it can be a C5 or a C6 and for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) it can be between 5.5 – 6.5.  Personal statement ( Statement of Purpose): A personal statement is a letter of intent, and it must contain the following  Education Background Employment History Why the Country Why the University Why the Course Future Prospects.  A personal statement that does not sound convincing enough and lacks the above points may result in being granted a conditional offer Academic Reference: It is important that students with the intention to study in the UK provide an academic reference, the absence of this will lead to a conditional offer.   Resume ( CV): An up-to-date CV must be provided, if the CV provided is not up to date or has years of gap, the student will be granted a conditional offer.  It is also important to know that Universities like Bedfordshire University, grant students a conditional offer regardless of the student providing all documents and having the qualifications. The condition is for the tuition deposit to be fully paid, after which they get granted an unconditional offer.    UNCONDITIONAL OFFER This is a type of admission offer that qualifies a student worthy to study in a UK university.  Students who have met all the general and academic requirements will be granted an unconditional offer.  At Negxy concept limited, we always advise our clients to provide all necessary documents and ensure that they have all the qualifications needed to get an unconditional offer. We make certain that they are halfway into realizing their study abroad dreams and aspirations.  After a student has been granted an unconditional offer, they are required to make their tuition deposit and provide a 28 days bank statement.  After this, they can go ahead to request for their CAS, prepare for their pre-cas interview (for schools that requires a pre-cas interview to be done)  and then await their CAS (Confirmation for Acceptance of Studies).    CAN A STUDENT ADMISSION OFFER BE WITHDRAWN? Yes, a UK university can withdraw an admission offer given to a student under the following situations.  The student fails to accept an offer that has been granted to them  When an unconditional offer is sent to a student through email, they are requested to either accept or decline the offer. If the student fails to accept the admission offer, it will be withdrawn before the start of the course, if such a situation occurs, nothing can be done to reverse it, except to apply for the next intake if desired. The requirements are not met after a conditional offer has been granted: When a student receives a conditional offer from their university of choice, they are expected to provide all the specific requirements and information as soon as possible. If they fail to provide these, their conditional offer will be withdrawn.  The student Pre-Cas Interview is not successful: Universities that require a Pre-Cas interview to be done before a CAS is issued can withdraw an unconditional offer if the student’s interview is not successful, in this case, the tuition deposit will be sent back to the student. The student can apply for another intake if they desire.    Speak with our counsellors today for detailed information on the types of UK Student Admission Offer that are granted to prospective UK students.  Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt. Application Deadline for UK January 2022 Intake

APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR UK JANUARY 2022 INTAKE When prospective study abroad students with the intention to study in the UK come to us asking to start an application process for January 2022 intake at this time of the year, we make them understand that their application will likely not be attended to by the school as UK universities have reached their application deadline for January 2022 intake.  Here at Negxy Concept Limited, we are proud to say that we have over 8years of experience in assisting clients to successfully study abroad, we make it our priority to give the best counselling and guidance to our students. This is why we ensure to inform students of UK university application deadlines and advice them to begin their application process early, amongst other important information.   JANUARY 2022 INTAKE FOR UK UNIVERSITIES January intake is one of the university intakes in the UK, it is the second most important intake, students who missed the September intake can apply for January intake. However, some UK universities do not have this intake, here is a list of a few UK universities that have the January intake:  Birmingham City University Kingston University Northumbria University University of Chester University of Greenwich University of Sunderland Anglia Ruskin University Coventry University De Montfort University University of Lincoln University of South Wales Teesside University   It is important to note that applying for January Intake at this time of the year (November) is unwise as the admission processing period is to be considered. Applications for January Intake should have been done since August/September to ensure the admissions process is successful.  Let us have a breakdown of the admission and visa processing and why prospective study abroad students who are looking to go for the January 2022 intake and have not begun their application process, should rather put in an application for September 2022 intake:  The application process at Negxy Concept is done within 2 days – 4 days, in cases where clients send in their complete documents.  Getting an admission offer from a UK university takes 48 hours – 8 weeks, depending on the school. For those who do not have proof of English Language Proficiency and are required to write an English level test, they should be aware that CBT result takes 3 – 5 days to be out, while paper-based test takes about 2 weeks.   Please note that CBTs cost more than paper-based tests.  After an offer has been granted, students are expected to start building their 28 days bank statement as some schools requests this before confirmation for acceptance of studies (CAS) can be applied for and issued.  After applying for CAS, It takes between 5 – 10 days for the CAS to be issued, however, for universities like Birmingham City and Bedfordshire that requires a pre-cas interview to be done, it takes between 5 – 20 days before CAS can be issued. Getting a date for a Tuberculosis test has become quite a problem in Nigeria, this is so as there are a good number of people applying to get a tuberculosis test done, therefore to get a date can take between 1week to 8 weeks, however, the test result comes out within 24 – 48 hours.  For the visa processing, students should be aware that it takes between 1 – 3weeks to get their UK Student Visa in cases where all of their documents are complete and the visa interview is a success.   Therefore, students with the intention to apply for UK January 2022 intake or any university intakes in general, are excepted to apply at least 3 months before the start of the course, in order to guarantee a successful admission and visa process.    UK UNIVERSITY APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR JANUARY 2022 The United Kingdom offers high-quality education options therefore it is considered to be one of the most widely chosen study destinations for African students. African students’ population in the UK is increasing day by day at a great pace and this is only possible through a successful university application process.  A good number of African students from all regions apply to study in Uk universities, therefore universities in the UK  always have thousands of applications to attend to. Although they ensure to attend to these applications at a fast pace, they still are possibilities of there being backlogs of applications by the time the application deadline for that intake approaches. To avoid being among the students whose applications are not attended to for a particular intake, university representatives always advises students to put in their application early.  Most UK Universities like Teesside have closed their portal to Jan 2022 applications since the last week of October and other universities like Birmingham City University still have their portal opened and are still accepting applications, however, most of these applications may be deferred to the next intake, which is the September intake.  Students with the intention to study for UK January 2022 intake should consider putting in their application for September Intake instead.    Speak with our counsellors today for detailed information on application deadlines for UK January 2022 intake.    Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt. New Rules by the UK Government towards Covid19 Vaccination Administered in Nigeria

NEW RULES BY THE UK GOVERNMENT TOWARDS COVID19 VACCINATION ADMINISTERED IN NIGERIA   Covid19 Update for International students such as the new rules by the UK government towards the covid19 vaccine administered in African in countries like Nigeria have left so many prospective study-abroad students, tourists and businessmen with the intentions of travelling to the UK excited. After the spread of the deadly coronavirus disease in December 2019, Covid vaccination was established to protect people against this deadly disease. Different types of covid vaccines were produced and distributed to different countries around the world. The different types of Covid Vaccines are: Oxford/AstraZeneca Pfizer BioNTech Moderna Janssen On the 17th of September, the United Kingdom made a travel rule regarding the Covid19 vaccination. This rule stated that individuals who were administered vaccines in countries, like India, Turkey, Jordan, Thailand, Russia, and continents like Africa and South America are considered “unvaccinated” Therefore must follow the unvaccinated rules that were put in place by the UK government before they can successfully settle in the UK. International students in Nigeria travelling to the UK were affected as they had to follow the unvaccinated rules before they could successfully travel for their studies in the UK. These rules are as follows They must provide their vaccination status on arrival in the UK A 72hours Covid 19 test should be done before entering the UK Self Isolation of 10 days after entering the UK Covid test must be taken on or before day 2 after entering the UK Further testing will be taken on day 8 after entering the UK   THE UK APPROVES OF COVID19 VACCINES ADMINISTERED IN NIGERIA On Monday, the 11th of October, 2021 the UK government released a new travel rule with respect to the Covid19 vaccination. This new rule states that the vaccination administered in most African countries has been approved by the UK government. Fortunately, Nigeria is among these countries, meaning that vaccination administered in Nigeria has been approved by the UK government. Therefore, International students in Nigeria travelling to the UK on or after the 11th of October, 2021  do not have to follow the unvaccinated rules but rather the vaccinated rules. The Vaccinated rules are as follows: Covid Vaccination status must be provided e.g  A Covid19 vaccine certificate. A 72hours Covid 19 test before entering the UK is not required Getting a day 2 Covid 19 test is required. 10 days self Isolation after entering the UK is not needed Getting a day 8 Covid 19 test is not required. Therefore international students who are fully vaccinated and have plans to study in a University in the UK can follow the vaccinated rule by simply providing proof of their vaccination status, whereas unvaccinated international students must follow the unvaccinated rule. For a swift travel process to the UK for studies, international students are advised to get vaccinated. Click on the youtube video below to watch our live session on Covid19 Travel Protocols for Nigerian students going to study in the UK. However, please note that the 72hours Covid 19 test before entering the UK is not required for fully vaccinated international students as contrary to what was mentioned on the live session. Speak with our counsellors today for detailed information on the Covid19 rules that has been implemented for Nigerians by the UK government.
