There have been news updates for UK Students by the UK government and even UK universities, this March 2022. These updates are what keeps students informed on what goes on in the UK, like new rules and changes made in UK universities or by the UK government.

With these news updates, students studying in the UK are aware of what is expected of them concerning their studies in the UK and how to go about their admission and visa processing.

VISA UPDATE; SUSPENSION OF PRIORITY AND SUPER-PRIORITY VISA

On the 15th of March 2022, the UK government launched a new scheme which is known as the Ukraine Family Scheme. This is a scheme that permits individuals from Ukraine to join their family members in Uk. A new scheme however was also launched on Friday the 18th of March 2022, this scheme is known as, homes for Ukraine scheme. This is a scheme whereby Uk citizens or residents offer their homes to individuals from Ukraine, as a way of supporting them.

These schemes were created as a reaction to the Ukraine invasion by the Russian government, a way to support Ukrainians during these tough times. A lot of Ukrainians have been rendered homeless and stranded.

For the UK to prioritise the Ukraine Family Scheme and the homes for Ukraine Scheme applications, they had to suspend Priority and Super – Priority work, study and family visa applications in Nigeria.

The total number of visas that had been issued under the Ukraine Family Scheme as of Thursday, the 17th of March 2022 had a total of 6,500

They are worried and they think that the UK has suspended all work, study and family visa applications; however, this is not the case. Standard visa applications are still ongoing but may take a longer time to process.

COVID UPDATE; TERMINATION OF COVID TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS IN THE UK

Thankfully, the spread of the Covid 19 virus, which kept the entire world on edge for more than 2years, is gradually easing up. So, the Uk has finally taken down all the Covid-19 travel rules. Such as the Covid test, the 10days quarantine etc.

One of the news updates for Uk student was posted on the 18th of March, 2022, and this is that the passenger locator form was scrapped. This means that students going to study in the Uk are not required to fill out the long and tiring locator form before they can be allowed entry into the Uk.

ADMISSION UPDATE; UK STUDENT TARGET FROM THE YEAR 2022 TO THE YEAR 2030

To promote growth, the Uk government has set a target of international students that will be accepted in the Uk between this year 2022 – the year 2030. 600,000 international students have been set to be hosted in the Uk every year until the year 2030.

This is a great opportunity for you to gather your funds to study in the UK as soon as possible. Be amongst the lucky ones that would beat their chest to say that they are a UK student.

UNIVERSITY UPDATE; INTRODUCTION OF CREDIBILITY INTERVIEWS IN UK UNIVERSITIES

As we all know, not all universities require an interview to be done before issuing CAS (Confirmation for Acceptance of Studies). In this case, as soon as you receive your unconditional offer from a Uk university, all you need to do is pay up your tuition deposit and then request for your CAS.

However, part of the news update for UK students is that some schools in the UK now require credibility interviews to be done before the issuance of CAS. This is so as these universities want to ensure that the students coming to study are well qualified.
